Gekkota is a project that aims to create an innovative, portable,
high performance Online Gaming Delivery Network (OGDN) platform.
The Gekkota kernel is based on
Mono, and
is designed to make the development of new communication protocols
trivial. Thanks to its metadata system, the Gekkota kernel is
able to understand any protocol, even if unknown, and react as
needed. It provides a very precise bandwidth manager, cryptography
services based on Rijndael, the Rocksoft™
Model CRC Algorithm, the Internet Protocol (IP), and the User
Datagram Protocol (UDP). Our implementation of the Reliable User
Datagram Protocol (RUDP) will be available very soon, letting the
Gekkota kernel demonstrate its power in providing intelligent,
reliable, high performance network services to the OGDN
universe.
The OGDN let the online gaming market create new and efficient
distribution channels, intelligently manage subscribers, and bring
the online gaming business to a new dimension of collaboration and
communication. More simply, the OGDN is an unique and
sophisticated network technology that raises the online gaming
to a new exciting dimension.
key features:
-
Flexible and scalable network services for games distribution
and multiplayer online gaming activities.
-
Efficient backbone network usage through a very precise
bandwidth management and self adaptation depending on network
traffic.
-
Support of any IP-based protocol through custom or built-in
datagram descriptors.
-
Support of different gaming platforms (PC, console, mobile),
making them work together.
-
Inter-node roaming services that allow subscribers of different
providers to play video games online with each other.
-
Secure games distribution and publishing services.
-
Dynamic and profile-based aggregation services for online
advertising.
A SDK for game developers to efficiently take advantage of the
OGDN services is work in progress.

Gekkota Kernel Reengineering
We are redesigning the Gekkota kernel in order to make it
smaller, faster, and of course nicer. The Listener and the
Omnicaster classes will be removed, and in their place you will
find Agamura's implementation of the IPClient class. IPClient will
be the base class for any other classes that implement IP-based
protocols such as Udp and Rudp. A developer preview as well as the
first draft of the new SDK documentation will be available as soon
as possible.
